Two people were killed Saturday evening, September 12, 2026, in a high-speed boat crash on Lake Havasu just north of Cattail Cove State Park on the Arizona side, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies with the MCSO Boating Safety Division were called to the shoreline shortly after 7 p.m. After arriving, they found a 2019 36-foot Douglas Marine boat upside down on land in a boat-in campsite.
Two people were unresponsive near the boat. Deputies started CPR and other life-saving measures. Lake Havasu City Fire Department and San Bernardino County Fire Department also responded. Both people were pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s office identified the deceased as Charles R., 65, and Jennifer L., 59, both of Lake Havasu City.
According to the initial investigation, the boat was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck a large peninsula. The impact sent the boat airborne. The boat then landed overturned in a boat-in campsite north of the point of impact.
Fox 10 Phoenix, Today’s News-Herald, KTNV, and The Standard reported the same core account from the sheriff’s office, including the boat description, the peninsula strike, the airborne path, the campsite landing, and the Saturday evening timing.
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office said the crash remains under investigation.
No additional confirmed details on exact speed, the path of travel before the peninsula, or other factors have been released beyond that initial investigation summary.
