Fatality Following Altercation East of Kingman
An independent investigation is underway after a domestic violence call escalated into a deadly shooting involving Mohave County Sheriff’s Office deputies. On Monday morning, authorities responded to a remote home on Blue Willow Lane. During the encounter, a 48-year-old female brandished a weapon, prompting deputies to open fire. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Wildfire Concerns Mount in Northwest Arizona
Emergency crews are battling two lightning-induced blazes. The 700-acre Dellenbaugh Fire is active northeast of Kingman within the Grand Canyon–Parashant National Monument. Further north, the aggressive 1,000-acre Rock Canyon Fire is threatening structures on the Kaibab Plateau. Firefighters face challenging weather as hot, dry, and windy conditions persist through the week.
Seven-Year Sentence for Bus Wreck Driver
A Marana motorist has been ordered to serve seven years in prison following a devastating collision with a Kingman Unified School District school bus 14 months ago. The crash injured 41 students and faculty members and resulted in one child losing a hand. Alongside prison time, the driver faces nearly $180,000 in victim restitution and property damages.

Public Safety
Fire restrictions remain in effect county-wide across all four of Mohave County’s fire zones. The restrictions, enacted in late May, cover unincorporated areas of the county and were put in place due to high temperatures, low humidity, dry vegetation, and sustained winds. With today’s gusts forecast near 25 mph, conditions won’t be improving.
On a separate health note, ADHS and the Mohave County Department of Public Health announced June 11 that the measles outbreak in the county has ended.

Voters have until July 21 to cast ballots in Arizona’s Primary Election. The Mohave County Recorder’s Office has been reminding residents of deadlines and voting options ahead of that date.
