Mohave County’s Board of Supervisors is on track to adopt a final FY2027 budget on June 15. The Board approved a tentative budget on June 1 and also oversees the county’s Flood Control, Library, and Television districts.

The county expects to receive $908,586 in federal Community Development Block Grant funds from the Arizona Department of Housing Regional Account for FY2026. Mohave County also intends to apply for $500,000 each for FY2026 and FY2027 through the State Special Projects program.

Public Safety

The Mohave County Department of Public Health has confirmed the county’s first Sin Nombre hantavirus death, according to a notice issued June 1 in coordination with the Arizona Department of Health. No additional details about the case were released.

County-wide fire restrictions remain in effect across all four fire zones in unincorporated Mohave County. The restrictions were enacted in late May due to high temperatures, low humidity, dry vegetation, and sustained winds.

Wildlife and Outdoors

With temperatures climbing toward triple digits in the valleys, the Hualapai Mountains offer noticeably cooler conditions. The BLM’s Wild Cow Springs Campground in the Hualapais is open, and the 11,300-acre Cerbat Foothills Recreation Area near Kingman has trail access. Visitors heading into the backcountry should check current fire restrictions with the BLM Kingman Field Office before their trip.

Around Town

The Mohave County Recorder’s Office is reminding voters of deadlines ahead of the July 21, 2026, Primary Election. Voters who haven’t selected a political party ballot should check the county’s 90-day notice, which went out in late April, for relevant deadlines.
