Public Safety
Mohave County enacted fire restrictions county-wide on May 26, covering all four fire zones within unincorporated areas of the county. The restrictions are a response to what the county described as critical fire weather conditions: high temperatures, low humidity, dry vegetation, and sustained winds.
The BLM Kingman Field Office, which oversees 2.4 million acres of public land in northwestern Arizona, separately posts fire restriction updates for the Colorado River District. Residents heading out to the Cerbat Foothills Recreation Area or the Hualapai Mountains this weekend should check current restrictions before building any fire.
Community Events
The Mohave County Reach Out facility is set to hold its grand opening on Tuesday, June 3, at 9:00 a.m. The facility is located at 501 W. Highway 66 in Kingman. Members of the Board of Supervisors may be in attendance, according to a notice of attendance the county issued May 26.
Also on June 3, the Mohave County Local Emergency Planning Committee will hold a public meeting at 1:00 p.m. at Lake Havasu City Fire Department Station No. 2, 2065 Kiowa Blvd., Lake Havasu City.
City Hall
Mohave County is expecting to receive $908,586 in federal Community Development Block Grant funds for fiscal year 2026 through the Arizona Department of Housing Regional Account. The county also intends to apply for $500,000 each for FY2026 and FY2027 through the State Special Projects account. A second public hearing on the use of those CDBG funds was held May 18.
On the water front, the Arizona Department of Water Resources has filed a petition for special action seeking review of a judge’s decision concerning the designation of the Hualapai Valley subsequent Irrigation Non-Expansion Area. Mohave County posted the filing information in late April.
