Sales Tax Referendum Disqualified
The local grassroots push to reverse Kingman’s recent 0.5% transaction tax hike has collapsed. Officials from the City of Kingman Clerk’s Office threw out the “Axe the Tax” ballot petition on technical grounds. Although proponents gathered hundreds of names, organizers failed to affix the legally mandated text of the initiative to their signature sheets. The omission breached Arizona statutory protocol, prompting local administrators to completely nullify the submission.

KUSD Students Start the New School Term
Local classrooms are packed again as the Kingman Unified School District launched its 2026–2027 calendar. Students throughout the area traded their summer breaks for textbooks earlier than usual this past week. District leaders stated their primary objective for this session is fostering a sense of shared intent and student inspiration.

Downtown Vendor Fair Opens

Mohave County Development Services is warning residents about an email scam involving fake invoice notices. The fraudulent emails falsely claim to be from the Planning and Zoning Commission. The county issued the alert July 9 and is asking anyone who receives a suspicious invoice to verify it directly with Development Services before taking any action.
