B-17 On Display

The B-17 Sentimental Journey is on the apron at Kingman Municipal Airport today. The Aviation Heritage Center brought it in for Monday’s Flying Fortress Parkway ribbon cutting. More WWII planes and vehicles are out there too. Aircraft tours and paid rides run Monday through the Arizona Commemorative Air Force.

Ribbon Cutting Monday

The city opens the Flying Fortress Interchange Monday on the north side of I-40 at the Flying Fortress Parkway exit. Ceremony starts at 11 a.m. with a B-17 flyover at 11:30, then the ribbon cut. Take Airway Avenue east to Flying Fortress Parkway for parking. City staff want people there by 10:30 to 10:45.

Street Drags Closures

Route 66 Street Drags run Oct. 9 through 11. Closures start Monday at 7 a.m. Andy Devine closes between Harrison and Navajo. Hoover Street closes between Kingman Avenue and Andy Devine. Detour uses Airfield and Harrison. Roads reopen in phases, with everything back by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14.

I-40 Weekday Lanes

ADOT puts I-40 back to one lane between Stockton Hill and Beale on weekdays. That runs Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Delays can hit about 15 minutes.
