Flying Fortress Opens

The Flying Fortress I-40 interchange ribbon cutting is today at 11 a.m. at Flying Fortress Parkway and Grand Canyon Road. A B-17 flyover is set for about 11:30 a.m. Parking is off Airway Avenue east to Flying Fortress Parkway, then right toward the water tank. City staff wants people there by 10:30 to 10:45. After the ribbon cutting, drivers can use the new interchange before it opens to regular traffic later today.

B-17 At Airport

Sentimental Journey, a WWII-era B-17, is at Kingman Municipal Airport today for the opening. The Aviation Heritage Center of Kingman brought the plane in. Ground tours and paid rides are available through the Arizona Commemorative Air Force.

Street Drags Closures

Andy Devine Avenue is closed between Harrison and Navajo starting 7 a.m. today for Route 66 Street Drags setup. Hoover Street is closed between Kingman Avenue and Andy Devine. Detour via Airfield and Harrison. The race runs Oct. 9 through 11 on Route 66. More closures hit Thursday. Roads reopen in phases starting Oct. 12, with the last Andy Devine stretch due back by 5 p.m. Oct. 14.

I-40 Lane Work

ADOT has I-40 narrowed to one lane each way between Stockton Hill Road and Beale Street Mondays through Thursdays, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Delays of up to 15 minutes are possible. Weekday work is back after the weekend pause.
