Today’s Weather

High near 94, with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. — precipitation chance sits at 20%. The National Weather Service office in Las Vegas issued an Extreme Heat Watch at 10:45 a.m. today that runs through August 21 at 8 p.m. PDT; overnight lows will stay warm, dropping only to around 76.

Public Safety

The Extreme Heat Watch covers the region through next Thursday evening. Residents are advised that daytime conditions will remain dangerous for extended outdoor activity through much of the coming week. Southwest winds today are light, 2 to 8 mph, offering little relief.

City Hall

The Mohave County Recorder’s Office is moving ahead with identity verification steps ahead of Senate Bill 1479, which takes full effect September 11, 2026. The office began those proactive measures in late July.

The county also has an eye on October. A notice filed August 5 flags that members of the Board of Supervisors may attend the Flying Fortress Traffic Interchange Grand Opening on Monday, October 5, and the County Supervisors Association Summit Policy Conference on October 7 and 8.

Separately, Mohave County is still accepting Letters of Interest from individuals, organizations, and historical societies interested in acquiring or relocating a historic general store. No deadline was specified in the county’s public notice.

Around Town

The Local Workforce Development Board opened a public comment period on the Local Area Workforce Plan, a two-year modification. Residents who want to weigh in on workforce development priorities can do so during the open comment window announced August 3.

The Kingman Public Library at 3269 N. Burbank St. hosted a Family Night celebrating America 250 on Wednesday, August 12. That event has already passed, but it was part of a broader series of America 250 observances the county has been organizing through the summer.
