By | May 31, 2026

Today’s Weather

Sunny skies and a high near 90 are expected Sunday, with north northwest winds between 2 and 12 mph. Tonight will be clear, dropping to around 63, with light south winds.

Climate & Safety Warnings
Triple-Digit Surge: Regional thermometers are spiking nearly 10 degrees above historical averages. Weather analysts advise locals to limit heavy outdoor activity between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM to avoid heat exhaustion.

Vegetation Crackdown: Code enforcement officers are issuing 30-day compliance notices to clear hazardous brush. Officials emphasize that untamed weeds pose immediate wildfire risks and clear road visibility bounds must be kept.

Seatbelt Initiative: Local police are wrapping up their “Click It or Ticket” traffic safety push tonight. The high-visibility campaign was backed by state highway safety grants.

Local Construction & Infrastructure
Centennial Park Overhaul: Drivers should expect closures at the Centennial Park Pool and Recreation Office parking areas beginning tomorrow. The lots will be blocked off for roughly two weeks due to essential asphalt resurfacing.

Downtown Pool Reopened: The Grandview Pool has officially welcomed swimmers back following extensive structural upgrades. The refreshed facility now features an aquatic climbing wall and a new slide.

Benton Street Outage: Public works crews are readying temporary water shutoffs on Benton Street. The brief utility disruption is necessary to link new water infrastructure to the grid.

Government & Law Enforcement
Budget Strain: The Mohave County Board of Supervisors is preparing for a crucial Monday session to evaluate the upcoming fiscal blueprint. Financial experts warn that sluggish quarterly revenues could force officials to look for severe spending cuts.

Recent Major Incidents: Transit lines have stabilized following a commercial semi-truck rollover that gridlocked westbound Interstate 40 for nine hours earlier this weekend. Separately, investigators continue to review last Monday’s fatal pedestrian accident involving a BNSF train near Hualapai Mountain Road.

Public Safety
Mohave County enacted county-wide fire restrictions last week in response to what officials described as critical fire weather conditions — high temperatures, low humidity, dry vegetation, and sustained winds. The restrictions apply to all four fire zones within the county’s unincorporated areas.

Anyone heading out to public lands this weekend should check current BLM fire restriction status for the Colorado River District before building any open fires. The Cerbat Foothills Recreation Area, Wild Cow Springs Campground, and the Route 66 Back Country Byway all fall under BLM Kingman Field Office jurisdiction.

Around Town

The Mohave County Reach Out facility is set to hold its grand opening Wednesday, June 3, at 9:00 a.m. at 501 W. Highway 66 in Kingman. The Mohave County Board of Supervisors may have members attending, according to a notice of attendance the county posted May 26.

Also on June 3, the Mohave County Local Emergency Planning Committee will hold a public meeting at 1:00 p.m. at Lake Havasu City Fire Department Station 2, 2065 Kiowa Blvd. in Lake Havasu City.

City Hall
Mohave County is expecting $908,586 in federal Community Development Block Grant funds from the Arizona Department of Housing Regional Account for fiscal year 2026. The county also intends to apply for $500,000 each for FY2026 and FY2027 through the State Special Projects account. A second public hearing on the planned use of those CDBG funds was held May 18.

The county issued a 90-day notice to active voters in late April regarding political party ballot selection deadlines ahead of the upcoming primary election cycle.
