Today’s Weather

Sunny skies and a high near 87 degrees are expected today, with southwest winds around 18 mph and gusts up to 28 mph. Tonight clears out with a low around 60 and lighter winds shifting out of the south-southeast.

City Hall

Mohave County is in line to receive $908,586 in federal Community Development Block Grant funds through the Arizona Department of Housing’s Regional Account for fiscal year 2026. The county also intends to seek an additional $500,000 through the State Special Projects account for both FY2026 and FY2027. A second public hearing on how those funds will be used was held May 18.

Voters across the county should be watching their mailboxes. The Mohave County Recorder’s Office sent a 90-day notice to all active voters in late April outlining deadlines and requirements for political party ballot selection ahead of the upcoming primary election cycle.

Water Rights

The Arizona Department of Water Resources has filed a Petition for Special Action seeking review of a ruling by Judge Blaney concerning the designation of the Hualapai Valley subsequent Irrigation Non-Expansion Area. The filing was noted in a county public notice posted in late April. The Hualapai Valley aquifer basin has been a subject of ongoing legal and regulatory attention in the region.

Public Safety

The Mohave County Local Emergency Planning Committee is scheduled to meet on June 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Lake Havasu City Fire Department Station 2, located at 2065 Kiowa Boulevard in Lake Havasu City. The meeting is open to the public, pursuant to Arizona open meeting law requirements.

Wildlife and Outdoors

The BLM Kingman Field Office manages the largest wild burro population in the country, found in the Black Mountains west of Kingman. The field office oversees 2.4 million acres of public land across northwestern Arizona, including nine wilderness areas and the 11,300-acre Cerbat Foothills Recreation Area on the edge of town. With temperatures climbing through the holiday weekend, the higher elevations of the Hualapai Mountains offer cooler conditions — Wild Cow Springs Campground sits well above the valley floor and typically runs several degrees cooler than Kingman proper.
