Andy Devine Chase
Kingman Police chased a pickup on East Andy Devine late Saturday after it hit about 90 in a 40. The truck turned onto Armour Avenue. On Bank Street the driver reversed toward an officer then fled south. Dust cut the chase short for a while. Officers later saw the truck enter the Zuni RV park from Airway Avenue. It hit a marked patrol car with lights on. A 56-year-old Kingman man was tased when he refused commands. He went to the hospital for injuries from the arrest. He faces two aggravated assault counts and unlawful flight.
Anniversary Plans
Kingman City Council on Tuesday locked in a 75th anniversary party for Jan. 21, 2027 on Beale Street. Plans call for a drone show with 8 to 10 drones and a temporary ice rink. The rink stays up a couple days after. The city pegs the bill at $22,000 to $35,000 and will seek sponsors up to $5,000 each.
Chip Sealing
Council also approved chip sealing between Airway Avenue and Rutherford Street. It put $3,000 from opioid settlement funds toward two Kingman youths at the MSTEPP Conference in Washington, D.C. The October Street Drag got a yes using tourism fund money.
I-40 Lanes
ADOT still runs I-40 one lane between Stockton Hill Road and Beale Street from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Thursday. That stretch is mileposts 51 to 48. Delays can hit about 15 minutes.
