County Business

Mohave County is set to hold its second public hearing regarding the use of Community Development Block Grant funds on May 18, 2026. The county is expected to receive approximately $908,586 in federal CDBG funds through the Arizona Department of Housing Regional Account for fiscal year 2026. The county also intends to apply for $500,000 in additional CDBG funds from the State Special Projects account for both fiscal years 2026 and 2027.

The Mohave County Assessor’s Address Protection Program recently inspired statewide action, as the Governor signed Senate Bill 1479 into law. The legislation is described as Arizona’s first comprehensive measure aimed at preventing deed fraud, modeled in part on the local program the Assessor’s office had already put in place.

Public Notices

The Arizona Department of Water Resources has filed a Petition for Special Action seeking review of a court decision concerning the designation of the Hualapai Valley subsequent Irrigation Non-Expansion Area, according to Mohave County. Residents with an interest in local water rights and aquifer basin management may wish to follow that proceeding as it moves forward.

A separate hearing has been noticed for June 15, 2026, regarding a proposed adjustment and increase of gate rates at the Mohave Valley Landfill. The change would allow for a credit card transaction fee to be applied at the facility.

Wildlife and Outdoors

The Bureau of Land Management’s Kingman Field Office continues to manage 2.4 million acres of public land in northwestern Arizona, including the Cerbat Foothills Recreation Area near Kingman. With temperatures climbing toward summer levels in the valleys, the BLM notes that Wild Cow Springs Campground in the Hualapai Mountains offers cooler conditions for those looking to get outdoors this week.
