Kingman AZ Local News Brief Sunday 8-30-2026

Today’s Weather
Kingman gets a break from last week’s 100-degree stretch. The National Weather Service calls for a sunny Sunday with a high near 94, slipping to around 92 in the afternoon. South-southwest winds run 15 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms moves in tonight, with a 20 percent chance of rain. Skies turn partly cloudy and the low drops to around 71. Monday looks mostly sunny and a little cooler, with a high near 89 and a 30 percent chance of storms.

Public Safety

There are no active NWS watches, warnings, or advisories for the Kingman area as of this morning. Temperatures are down from last week’s Extreme Heat Warnings, but the afternoon wind and a late-day storm chance still make early outdoor work the safer bet.

City Hall

The Mohave County Local Emergency Planning Committee meets Wednesday, September 2, at 1:00 p.m. at Bullhead City Fire Station No. 1, 1260 Hancock Road. The public agenda includes county fire restrictions, hazmat reports, and a briefing on the August 14 Kingman storm response.

The Planning and Zoning Commission holds its regular hearing Wednesday, September 9, at 10:00 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors Auditorium, 700 West Beale Street in Kingman.

City of Kingman offices are closed Monday, September 7, for Labor Day. Public Works says there is no residential or commercial trash pickup that Monday. Monday and Tuesday customers should put their cans out one day late.

Around Town

ADOT’s I-40/US 93 West Kingman interchange work keeps rolling. On weekdays, I-40 is narrowed to one lane between Stockton Hill Road and Beale Street (mileposts 51 to 48) from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with delays of up to about 15 minutes. That daytime lane drop is off today.

Rock blasting along US 93 resumes Wednesday, September 3, and continues through October. When blasting is scheduled, expect a short weeknight closure from about 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. between Betty Lane and Coyote Pass. ADOT says blasting will not happen on weekends.
