While daytime temperatures will max out at a slightly cooler 85°F today, the combination of dry brush and heavy winds means extreme caution is advised for any outdoor activities.

Motorcycle Driver Arrested Following Severe Road Rage Incident
A 32-year-old local resident faces charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and dangerous driving following a serious incident yesterday afternoon. According to investigators, the driver was aggressively pursuing two minors in another vehicle near Khan Avenue and Western Drive. When the front vehicle turned, the suspect braked too hard, causing his motorcycle to flip and launch a female passenger. The passenger is in critical condition after being flown to a Las Vegas trauma center; authorities noted that neither occupant wore a helmet.
Half-Million Dollar Train Robbery Disrupted Near Yucca
Law enforcement agencies continue to process a massive cargo heist targeted just south of Kingman along Interstate 40. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office teamed up with railway investigators to intercept a concealed box truck packed with items taken from a BNSF cargo train. Following a pursuit that ended with a suspect plunging into the Colorado River, two individuals were arrested, and roughly $500,000 in stolen consumer property was retrieved.
Public Safety
The Mohave County Department of Public Health confirmed its first Sin Nombre Hantavirus death earlier this month. The announcement came jointly with the Arizona Department of Health Services. County health officials haven’t released further details publicly.
On a more encouraging note, ADHS and the Mohave County Department of Public Health announced the end of the measles outbreak that had drawn attention across the region. The announcement came June 11.
City Hall
The Mohave County Board of Supervisors adopted the FY2026-2027 county budget on June 15. A separate Truth in Taxation process is also underway, with the board set to finalize the FY2027 budget through the same June 15 action.
The Mohave County Planning and Zoning Commission holds its regular meeting Wednesday, July 8. A Septic Permit Workshop, hosted by the Mohave County Environmental Quality Department, is also scheduled that same day for property owners and builders.
Community Events
Early voting for the July 21 Primary Election is open through July 17. The Mohave County Recorder’s Office is reminding voters to check key registration and ballot deadlines before time runs out. Mail ballots have already gone out.
The Kingman Library at 3269 N. Burbank St. will host a free evening event Wednesday, August 12, from 6 to 8 p.m., tied to the America 250 celebration. The event is listed as part of the county’s summer programming lineup.
