Today’s Weather
High near 107 today under sunny skies, with a low around 82 tonight. An Extreme Heat Warning issued by NWS Las Vegas remains in effect until 8:00 p.m. PDT Sunday, August 2. South southwest winds could gust to 21 mph this afternoon.
Public Safety
The Extreme Heat Warning covers the region through Sunday evening. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours. The Cerbat Foothills Recreation Area and other exposed public lands will be especially dangerous mid-day given the forecast.
If you have to be outside, early morning is the safer window. Temperatures won’t drop below the low 80s overnight, so heat stress can carry into the next day.
City Hall
The Mohave County Board of Supervisors holds its regular meeting Monday, August 3, starting at 9:30 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors Auditorium at 700 West Beale Street. A zoning ordinance amendment is among the items on the agenda. The public may appear and be heard.
The Mohave County Planning and Zoning Commission also has a regular meeting scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, at 10:00 a.m. in the same auditorium.
Around Town
The Mohave County Recorder’s Office completed its ballot cure process this week following Tuesday’s election, with final ballots transferred for tabulation. Nearly all post-election ballot processing is now done, according to county notices. Official results are still being finalized in accordance with Arizona law.
Separately, the Recorder’s Office is moving forward with ID verification procedures ahead of Senate Bill 1479, which takes full effect September 11, 2026.
Wildlife and Outdoors
The BLM Kingman Field Office, which manages 2.4 million acres of public land in northwestern Arizona, advises checking current fire restrictions before heading out this weekend. With temperatures well above 100 degrees, conditions on public lands including the Cerbat Foothills Recreation Area and Wild Cow Springs Campground in the Hualapai Mountains warrant extra caution. The higher elevations of the Hualapais typically run cooler than the valley, though the heat warning covers the broader region.
