Major Highway Collision Proves Fatal
A catastrophic head-on crash involving two commercial semi-trucks on Interstate 40 resulted in one fatality east of the city. Authorities report that a driver from California drifted across the central median due to exhaustion, directly striking an oncoming tractor-trailer. The operator of the impacted vehicle passed away at the location, and the fatigued driver now faces a criminal charge of manslaughter.
Municipal Infrastructure and Grant Approvals
The Kingman City Council greenlit an authorized request for the Pre-Disaster Mitigation Congressionally Directed Spending Grant Program. If the funding is secured, the city will receive nearly $493,000 to advance the Bull Mountain Channel Improvements Project to mitigate natural hazard risks. Additionally, a local agreement was finalized with the Northern Arizona Fire District to bring in roughly $32,000 annually to support fire hydrant maintenance over the next two fiscal years.

Mohave County Development Services is warning residents about an email scam circulating with fraudulent invoice notices. The messages falsely claim to be from the Planning and Zoning Commission. The county issued the alert July 9 and is asking anyone who receives one of these emails to disregard it.

In-person early voting for the Tuesday, July 21, 2026, Primary Election is underway and runs through Friday, July 17. The Mohave County Recorder’s Office reminded voters of the schedule in a notice issued Thursday.
