The Kingman Police Department arrested a 57-year-old man Oct. 20 on one felony charge of sexual conduct with a minor.
Police identified the man as Richard F., 57.
The Kingman Daily Miner reported that Richard F. is a former youth pastor and administrator at Kingman First Southern Baptist Church.
The Miner reported that the case involves the alleged sexual abuse of a young member of the church congregation.
According to the KPD release dated Oct. 22, the parents of an 8-year-old reported the incident to police on Sept. 3.
Police said the incident happened in the 3100 block of East Hualapai Mountain Road.
Detectives continued the investigation after the report, according to the release.
Police said detectives learned the acts happened several times at the same location.
The timing is described in slightly different ways. Versions of the Oct. 22 KPD release published by The Bee News describe the acts as taking place both over the course of one to two years and one to two years ago. A quote from Deputy Police Chief Joel F. reported by the Miner says the acts happened one to two years ago.
On Oct. 20, detectives contacted Richard F. at a business in the 4200 block of Industrial Boulevard and took him into custody, according to the release.
The Miner described the arrest location as his workplace. Police did not name the business.
He was booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility on the felony charge, police said. The Miner’s report was also published by The Standard.
The KPD release lists the charge as sexual conduct with a minor. The Miner’s report describes it as a sexual abuse charge.
Police released the child’s age but no further details. The Kingman News does not name minors.
No court date, bond amount, or current custody status had been reported by the sources reviewed as of Oct. 28.
Richard F. has been arrested and charged. He has not been convicted, and a charge is an accusation that must be proven in court.
