City of Kingman Celebrated the Grand Opening of New Recycling Center

By | March 19, 2026

The City of Kingman, Arizona, recently marked a significant milestone in its environmental efforts with the grand opening of its new Recycling Center. This modern facility represents a major step forward in promoting sustainable waste management and community involvement in recycling initiatives throughout the region.

Located at 3700 Andy Devine Avenue, the Recycling Center serves as a convenient drop-off point for residents of both the city and surrounding Mohave County areas. The official ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on April 9 at 10:00 a.m., drawing local officials, community members, and environmental advocates to celebrate the launch. Attendees had the chance to explore the site, receive guidance on properly sorting recyclables, and watch live demonstrations of the facility’s advanced baler system designed to efficiently process collected materials.

The grand opening coincided with three days of free recycling services, running from April 9 through April 11. During this promotional period, residents could drop off acceptable items without any fees, encouraging widespread participation and helping to kickstart regular use of the center. Normal operating hours are Thursday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., making it accessible for weekend visitors.

The facility accepts a range of common household recyclables, including cardboard, various metals (such as aluminum, steel, and tin), certain plastics, and other materials that can be repurposed. By providing this dedicated location, the City of Kingman aims to reduce landfill waste, conserve resources, and foster greater environmental responsibility among its more than 33,000 residents in the broader service area.

This project builds on earlier efforts to enhance recycling access in the region. In late 2025, the center initially opened its doors with support from investments, including a contribution from America’s beverage companies aimed at improving statewide recycling infrastructure. The 2026 grand opening event served as a formal community celebration, highlighting the facility’s role in long-term sustainability goals.

City officials expressed enthusiasm about the new center, noting that it equips locals with an easy way to contribute to a cleaner environment. Residents are encouraged to visit during regular hours, review the list of accepted items, and make recycling a routine part of their household practices.

The opening of the Recycling Center underscores Kingman’s commitment to progressive waste solutions and community-driven conservation. As more people utilize the facility, it is expected to play a key role in diverting substantial amounts of recyclable material from landfills, benefiting both the local ecosystem and future generations in this vibrant Arizona community.
