St. Jude Night
Kingman Police and Fire served tables at Chili’s on Stockton Hill on Tuesday. The 15th Cops vs Firefighters night ran about four hours. The two departments raised $8,335 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Police brought in $4,687. Fire brought in $3,648.
Burro Creek Body
Mohave County deputies helped DPS recover a man’s body from Burro Creek south of Wikieup on Friday. Crews could not reach the site by vehicle. A short-haul team and ground crews moved him to a spot a DPS helicopter could use. The body went to the Mohave County Medical Examiner. DPS is investigating. Cause of death has not been released.
Street Drags
City Council approved the October Route 66 Street Drags using tourism fund money. The race runs Oct. 9 through 11 on Route 66 between the Kingman Police Department and Arizona DPS. General spectator tickets are $20.
Storm Basins
Public Works told Council Kingman maintains 31 storm basins. That breaks down to 25 retention basins and six detention basins. New ones must drain within 36 hours.
