Burro Creek

Mohave County Sheriff’s Office helped recover a man’s body from Burro Creek south of Wikieup. Arizona DPS asked for the recovery after the body was found Friday. Crews could not get to it by vehicle. A short-haul team and ground crews moved him to a spot a DPS helicopter could reach. Cause of death has not been released. The body went to the Mohave County Medical Examiner. DPS is investigating.

Pine Street

Heavy equipment knocked down the Mohave County Legal Defender’s Office on Pine Street downtown Tuesday morning. About a dozen staff are in temporary space for now. They move into the new Legal Services Center in late October or November. The old building came down to make more parking near that center.

Suicide Walk

Mohave Mental Health holds its 2nd Annual Suicide Prevention and Awareness Walk today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lewis Kingman Park on Andy Devine.

I-40 and 93

ADOT put a big Route 66 sign on a new bridge at the I-40 and US 93 interchange in west Kingman. The second Beale Street tunnel is open at 239 feet. Crews are still paving the new mile-long ramps. Final flyover girders are planned for October. The $106 million project started in July 2024 and is due next year. Daytime, I-40 stays one lane between Stockton Hill Road and Beale Street from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Thursday. Delays can run about 15 minutes.
