Today’s Weather
Kingman starts Saturday under sunny skies after the Extreme Heat Warning ended Friday evening. The National Weather Service calls for a high near 99, with south-southwest winds picking up to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon and gusts near 30 mph.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible after 5 p.m., with only a 10 percent chance of rain. Tonight trends mostly clear after any early evening storms, with a low around 74.
Public Safety
There are no active NWS watches, warnings, or advisories for the Kingman area as of this morning. Weekend temperatures still climb into the upper 90s, so plan outdoor work for earlier hours and watch for brief late-day storms.
City Hall
Mohave County said Friday that the Mohave County Airport Authority did not respond by the August 27 deadline to the county’s August 7 statutory offer for leasehold interests and related assets at Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport. With no reply, the county says it is ready to start the legal lease condemnation process.
County Interim Airport Director Ed Faron will focus first on a verified picture of airport finances, contracts, capital projects, and maintenance needs. The county says it will coordinate with the FAA, Bullhead City, tenants, and regional partners during the transition.
Looking ahead, the Mohave County Local Emergency Planning Committee meets Wednesday, September 2, at 1:00 p.m. at Bullhead City Fire Station No. 1, 1260 Hancock Road. The Planning and Zoning Commission holds its regular hearing Wednesday, September 9, at 10:00 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors Auditorium, 700 West Beale Street in Kingman.
Around Town
ADOT’s I-40/US 93 West Kingman traffic interchange project continues toward an early 2027 opening. Rock blasting along US 93 is set to resume Wednesday, September 3, and run through October. When blasting is scheduled, expect short weeknight closures between about 8 and 9 p.m. on the stretch between Betty Lane and Coyote Pass, with lane restrictions possible about an hour beforehand.
Drivers heading between Kingman and Las Vegas should keep an eye on ADOT alerts for overnight work and changing patterns in the west Kingman work zone.
