Today’s Weather
High near 100 with southwest winds 8 to 13 mph and gusts to 18 mph. The National Weather Service office in Las Vegas has issued an Extreme Heat Warning effective through 8 p.m. PDT Sunday, August 9.

Public Safety
The Extreme Heat Warning covers the Kingman area through the weekend. Residents are advised that overnight lows will offer limited relief, with temperatures staying around 77 to 79 degrees. The warning period runs four days, making this a prolonged heat event rather than a single-day spike.

City Hall
The Mohave County Recorder’s Office has started identity verification procedures ahead of Senate Bill 1479, which takes full effect September 11, 2026. The office began the rollout proactively, ahead of the state deadline.

Mohave County is also accepting Letters of Interest from individuals, organizations, and historical societies interested in acquiring or relocating a historic general store. The county posted the solicitation August 5. No deadline was listed in the county’s public notice.

The Local Workforce Development Board opened a public comment period this week on a two-year modification to the Local Area Workforce Plan. Residents can submit comments through the county’s public notice process.

Community Events
The Kingman Library at 3269 N. Burbank St. will host a Family Night on Wednesday, August 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. The event is tied to the America 250 commemoration marking the nation’s semiquincentennial.

Looking further out, the Flying Fortress Traffic Interchange Grand Opening is scheduled for Monday, October 5. Members of the Mohave County Board of Supervisors may attend, according to a notice of attendance the county posted Wednesday.
