Local Crime Update

Authorities recently identified 56-year-old Jack Lagerwey of Kingman as the suspect who died following a SWAT standoff on May 9, 2025. The incident began with a disturbance call at a home on Ty Street, where Lagerwey allegedly poured gasoline inside while armed. He was fatally shot by law enforcement and pronounced dead at Kingman Regional Medical Center. The Bullhead City Police SWAT team assisted in the response.

Arrest in Child Sexual Abuse Case

On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, 27-year-old Steven Leslie Walters of Kingman was arrested after Mohave County Sheriff’s Office detectives, in collaboration with the Probation Department, found child sexual abuse material on his cell phone. The investigation is ongoing.

Infrastructure Development

The Arizona Department of Transportation is set to begin a $106 million project this summer to create a traffic interchange between I-40 and US 93 in west Kingman, part of several highway improvement initiatives in northern Arizona. This aims to enhance connectivity and safety in the region.
