Entitled Dog People are Everywhere

Entitled Dog People are Everywhere
I took my son to the park today, and again, there was an entitled person walking a big dog through the park even though there are no dogs allowed signs everywhere.

Every day entitled people ignore the signs and walk their dogs through areas off-limits to dogs as if they are humans.

We used to go to the park for a picnic and get some outside time, but now, no more since now, there is often dog poop littered around, making it basically no longer possible.

Some people use a leash, while others don’t and just let their dogs run around peeing on trees and pooping on the grass.

On top of this, there is a clearly labeled dog park located right next to many parks such as Centennial, but these people choose to ignore it.

For the record, I do love dogs. I have had dogs my whole life since I was very young, but I don’t take them with me everywhere.

My issue is not with the dogs but with the dog owners who seem to think it is appropriate to take their dogs everywhere, even when clearly labeled as no dogs allowed.

This is also not just parks. Some people are taking their dogs with them everywhere: Walmart, gas stations, grocery stores, and even at McDonald’s one day.

5-7 years ago, I would never see any dogs at the park or Walmart. Now, they are always there.

The worst issue is I don’t know if the dog is nice or not.

Your pit bull may be the best dog in the world, but I have no idea and don’t want to take a risk with my toddler son.

So now not only can we no longer have picnics at the park because of entitled dog owners and no longer walk freely in the park without trying to doge an animal that may or may not be nice.

A friend recently commented to me that she worries more about dogs than hobos.

Friends and family always say to tell these people there are no dogs allowed, which I have a few times, only to get yelled at and threatened.

These people seem to think that while they view their dog as family, it is not the case for others. To others, it is a possible threat, especially with children.

It is a daily occurrence now to see news of a child or adult being bitten by a dog. A social contract has broken down with these entitled dog people since around the time of the pandemic.

While I understand the love for dogs, I do wish these entitled dog people would only take them were allowed and be respectful of others.
