Kingman looks sunny and warm for Monday. The National Weather Service calls for a high near 91, with a south southwest wind 11 to 20 mph and gusts as high as 30 mph.

Tonight stays mostly clear with a low around 71. South wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. No active weather alerts are posted for the Kingman area this morning.

Public Safety

Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers responded early Friday to a fatal crash on Interstate 40 between Kingman and Seligman, about 2.5 miles west of the Mohave-Yavapai county line. Troopers said a commercial vehicle rear-ended a motorcycle; the motorcycle was on fire when they arrived, and the rider was dead at the scene. The commercial driver was cited for failure to control a vehicle to avoid a collision. Names have not been released.

City Hall

Kingman City Council meets tomorrow, Tuesday, September 15, at 5:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 310 N. 4th Street. Agendas are posted on the city website and can change up to 24 hours before the meeting.

Mohave County’s meeting portal lists an Arizona State Board of Equalization hearing today at 8:30 a.m. The county Personnel Commission is listed for Tuesday, September 15, at 9:00 a.m. The next Board of Supervisors meeting is Monday, September 21, at 9:30 a.m. at 700 W. Beale Street.

Mohave County Environmental Quality holds a free septic permit workshop Wednesday, September 16, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Boriana Conference Room at Development Services, 3250 E. Kino Avenue. Property owners, builders, and contractors can register through the county workshop notice; seating is limited.

Around Town

ADOT says the new Flying Fortress Parkway interchange on I-40 in east Kingman (Exit 56) is set to open Monday, October 5. The $44 million project, formerly called Rancho Santa Fe Parkway, will add two lanes each way plus bike lanes and sidewalks to ease congestion at Andy Devine Avenue. The city plans a ribbon-cutting and a World War II-era Flying Fortress flyover; exact time and spot will be announced later.

Overnight pavement work on eastbound I-40 between the US 93 junction and Silver Springs Road (mileposts 72-80) resumes tonight from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., continuing Monday evenings through Friday mornings through year-end. Expect one lane, a 14-foot width limit, and a lower speed limit in the work zone.

ADOT’s Monday-through-Thursday daytime one-lane work on I-40 between Stockton Hill Road and Beale Street (mileposts 51-48) resumes today. Expect delays up to about 15 minutes in the West Kingman interchange work zone.
