The Extreme Heat Warning covers the region through Sunday evening. Overnight lows won’t bring much relief — temperatures will drop only to around 79 before climbing back to about 81 by morning, with south winds gusting to 20 mph.
Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours. The Cerbat Foothills Recreation Area and other exposed public lands near Kingman can be especially dangerous in these conditions.
City Hall
Mohave County Attorney Matt Smith met with the Board of Supervisors this week to discuss the constitutionality of Flock traffic cameras. No vote outcome was reported in county notices.
The Mohave County Recorder’s Office is moving into preparation for the November 3, 2026, General Election following the July primary. Details on voter registration deadlines and polling locations have not yet been announced.
The county’s Planning and Zoning Commission has a hearing scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2026. A formal notice was posted August 19.

Mohave County is looking for parties interested in acquiring or relocating a historic general store. The county is accepting Letters of Interest from individuals, organizations, and historical societies. No deadline was listed in the notice posted August 5.

With triple-digit heat gripping the valley floor, the higher elevation of the Hualapai Mountains makes Wild Cow Springs Campground a practical option for anyone looking to spend time outdoors this weekend. The BLM Kingman Field Office, which oversees 2.4 million acres of public land in northwestern Arizona, manages the site along with the 11,300-acre Cerbat Foothills Recreation Area closer to town. Current fire restriction status is available through the BLM Colorado River District.
