Tragic New Year's Eve Crash Claims Life in Kingman
A devastating collision between a semi-truck and a pickup truck near downtown Kingman on the morning of December 31, 2025, resulted in the death of a 57-year-old Golden Valley resident, who was the brother of Mohave County Sheriff Doug Schuster.

The incident occurred at 7:40 a.m. at the 900 block of West Beale Street, near the Travel Center of America truck stop. According to authorities, the semi-truck was pulling out from the truck stop and turning right to proceed eastbound when it was struck by an eastbound 2006 Toyota pickup truck. The pickup struck the trailer’s side, becoming partially lodged beneath it, causing catastrophic damage.

The driver of the pickup, identified as Michael David Schuster, suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The semi-truck operator was not harmed and did not require medical attention. Kingman Police Department officials, including Deputy Chief Joel Freed, confirmed the victim’s family connection to Sheriff Doug Schuster.

No citations or charges have been issued yet, as the crash remains under active investigation to determine the exact cause and contributing factors.

West Beale Street was temporarily disrupted by the accident, causing delays for motorists during the morning hours. There is ongoing construction in the area for a bypass to help with traffic that has become overwhelming in the area.

Local authorities urge drivers to exercise caution at intersections involving large commercial vehicles, especially near truck stops. The street is the main way drivers go from Phoenix to Las Vegas.
